E-Mail Action – Our Europe. Say no to the attack on social and democratic rights in Europe !
We have started an E-mail action, targeting MEPs who will vote on the 8th of June on the Economic Governance Package, asking them to vote against what is on the table.
Most likely the vote on the 8th of June will not yet be the final vote, as on a number of issues there is no consensus between the Council and the European Parliament.

Details of the action can be found at :

www.oureurope.org

We invite other organizations to join this action, become a supporter and promoter of it. You can easily embed the action into your websites.

Action on the eve of the vote on the Economic Governance Package in Strassburg – 7th of June

We plan two actions/events in relation to the vote of the EP on the Economic Governance Package :

Public event in Strasbourg, starting at around 8pm with MEPs who oppose the package.

Venue : Pascal Canfin (Greens), Liem Hoang Ngoc (PES), Patrick Le Hyaric (GUE).

Speakers will be :

Dominique Plihon, Attac France / Euromemo

Yiorgos Vassalios, CEO

A European delegation from Attac will also meet several representatives from European groups to discuss on Economic governance issues on the 7th of June. The objectives of the meeting will vary according to the positions of the different groups. For the moment we have meetings planned with :

Jürgen Klüte from the GUE group at 4:30pm.

Philippe Lamberts from the Greens at 6pm.

We also plan to meet Martin Schulz from the PES.

Not yet clear if we will meet Verhofstadt from the ALDE.

We would be happy to have a broader European participation to this delegation and also invite groups to participate in the Public Event.

Action next to the Council meeting – 23rd and 24th of June

We plan to have an action with good publicity. With that we want to influence the reporting about the political process to the Economic Governance Package. We want to go to Council and produce good pictures with which we criticize, that there is no democratic legitimation for this process.

The action will be a media stunt near the councils building. We want to have it as an international action. Until now it is clear, that Belgian, French and German activists will join. Others are very welcome.
The next preparation meeting will be an June 11th in Berlin. After that there should be more concrete information available.
